The process is not always pretty
“With a background in the medical field, I have always been deeply interested in health, wellness, and caring for others. However, my true passion for birth work began during my first pregnancy in 2021—a life-changing experience that reshaped the way I viewed pregnancy, birth, and support.
As a Black woman, I had to work through many fears surrounding childbirth and hospital experiences. I knew the kind of birth I hoped for—an unmedicated water birth—and began preparing myself mentally, physically, and emotionally for that journey. Through countless hours of research, learning, and intentional preparation, I discovered not only the strength within myself, but also a deep appreciation for the beauty and power of birth.
The more I learned, the more passionate I became about supporting other families through their own unique journeys. What started as personal preparation soon grew into a calling. That calling led me to become a trained Full-Spectrum Doula, dedicated to providing compassionate, informed, and empowering support to families during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.”

There is a common misconception about the pregnancy and postpartum journey—that it only affects the person giving birth. In reality, these life-changing experiences impact the entire family and support circle. When loved ones are informed and equipped with the right knowledge, they are better able to support both parent and baby during this transformative time.
I created Saint Simone Doula Club to provide a safe, supportive space where expectant families can access the guidance, education, and encouragement they need as they navigate pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. My hope is that through the support and tools we provide, families will grow in confidence and empowerment—so much so that eventually, you won’t need us anymore.

Champions Benchmark empowers youth and families through education, mentoring, counseling, and community support. Their programs strengthen families, reduce violence, and provide pathways for success.
